Each year brings something new to the Smoky Mountains. In 2018, we got the Rail Runner Coaster at Anakeesta, Pigeon Forge Snow, the Five Oaks Farm Kitchen, and so much more. 2019 has a lot in store as well! Check out 5 new attractions in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg that are coming in 2019:
1. Wildwood Grove at Dollywood
Dollywood’s 2019 expansion is bringing a brand new area to the park: Wildwood Grove. Wildwood Grove will have something for everyone in the family to enjoy. There will be everything from family-friendly rides to a play area the kids are sure to love. You can explore, imagine and play together as a family, making memories that will last for years to come. Wildwood Grove will be located just off the beaten path of Timber Canyon.
2. Indoor Drive-in Theater
In 2019, visitors to the Smoky Mountains will have the chance to experience an indoor drive-in movie theater! What’s different about this theater is that you don’t actually “drive- in” to watch the movie. August Moon will feature about 40 classic cars, as well as numerous other seating options for you to choose from. There are plans to have swings, stadium seating, tables, and possibly even picnic blankets so you can enjoy the movie underneath the “stars!” August Moon is expected to open in late 2019.
3. Pirate Dinner Show
This year, we got news that not one, but two pirate dinner shows are coming to Pigeon Forge! 2019 will be full of pirate fun. Dolly Parton is bringing her Pirates Voyage to the Smoky Mountains. The show will feature acrobatic competitions, special effects, live animals, and original music by Parton and Mark Brymer. 4. Ole Red Gatlinburg
Blake Shelton is bringing his Ole Red restaurant and entertainment venue to Gatlinburg! There will be a special grand opening event for the venue in March of 2019, and Shelton and other guests are going to perform. This will be Shelton’s third Ole Red venue — there is one in his hometown in Oklahoma and one in Nashville. Ole Red Gatlinburg will be located at 511 Parkway. There are plans for renovations to turn it into a 16,000-square-foot multi-level attraction, with a two-story bar and restaurant, retail space, performance venue, dance floor, and outside terrace. For more information, read our blog, “Blake Shelton to Bring Ole Red Restaurant to Gatlinburg.”
5. Mountain Monster
In May of 2019, the Mountain Mile will open its first phase. The complex will be home to a bowling alley, sports bar, arcade, shops, and more. One thing you should definitely be excited about is the Mountain Monster, which will feature three separate rides from a 200-foot tower. During one of the rides, you’ll swing between towers, dropping them 65 feet and sending you arcing over the parking lot. It will be located next to The Island and Ripken Baseball.
